COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
Our home-pack smoked meat products have been vacuum sealed in BPA-free packaging and frozen to provide the freshest quality possible for food delivery. Upon receiving your product, inspect it to ensure it has not been damaged in shipping or that the seal is broken.
You may store in the refrigerator for 7-10 days if it remains in an airtight container or is still vacuum sealed. If you are not going to eat in this time frame, we recommend you put it in the freezer again as soon as you receive it. It may be frozen for up to 6 months provided the seal is not broken. Thaw meats in the refrigerator rather than at room temperature.
Care and Preparation for Delivered BBQ meats
All cooking times are recommended for thawed products. For best results:
Hot water method (our preferred method):
- Thaw in the refrigerator
- Bring a pot of water to the boil
- Turn off the heat
- Drop in the rib / meat pack, still in the sealed vacuum bag
- Cover and wait fifteen minutes
- Remove from the water and open the vacuum pack
- Slide the ribs or meat onto a plate.
Medium heat oven method:
- Thaw in the refrigerator and remove meat from vacuum pack.
- To warm, moisten with water or sauce… be careful if using sauce not to let it burn during warming.
- Wrap in foil placing a little water in the foil, seal tight and place in a dish (cake pan, aluminium pan, etc).
- Place in preheated oven at 250 degrees F (120 C).
- Heat until warmed through and the desired temperature has been reached.
Microwave method:
Meats may be warmed in the microwave by cutting a small opening in the vacuum bag, moisten with a little water and heat to desired temperature. Be careful to only heat the meat to the desired temperature. Too long / too high will result in drying of the meat.
